What are the steps needed to secure a commissioned painting?
A commission is the best way to get a painting that will meet your needs. A story that resonates with you can be incorporated into the painting and specific colour, size, and feel can be accommodated (but must be in keeping with Andrew's style of work).
In order to complete a commission, the following steps need to be taken:
We discuss the details of the painting required, ie: size, concept and colour specifics.
I listen to your needs and draw in ideas, and repeat the process until you can imagine what is proposed.
Clients generally provide information during this initial stage from a variety of sources such as magazine clippings, colour swatches or site plans.
It is essential we are both inspired by the brief and the site to clearly imagine a stunning and unique finished painting.
At this stage in the process it is time to commit. Up until now everything is no-obligation. Before you commit I will establish a written brief (instructions) and fee proposal outlining details of delivery date, costs etc, and when you are ready to move forward it will be confirmed in writing.
Commission accepted in writing and a 50% deposit obtained. I can then custom make the panel and begin painting. There are always various options to try and this is the time to enjoy sorting through the process. The stages of the work will be photographed and e-mailed to you and may be discussed at appropriate times to offer all practical possibilities quickly and effectively. You are actively involved in the creative process to ensure you are receiving what you require. This is an exhilarating process of practical and inspired creativity centered on your needs and I'm sure you will enjoy it - I always do!
Painting is completed. Either detailed photos are sent or you can visit the studio to view the painting.
Painting photographed and copy sent to you for final approval. Acceptance in writing will be requested.
Paintings packaged and delivered to you. Balance of payment is due and payable on delivery.
'Certificate of Authenticity' delivered upon receipt of payment.
Be assured that this is not a scary process and the above steps are designed to manage expectations and avoid any unpleasant surprises.
